“DO ONE THING”
At the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University
Join Mobile Loaves & Fishes-RI on Tuesday, October 16th from 6-9pm at the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University for an evening to benefit the homeless of RI.
Enjoy delicious light fare, cash bar [soft drinks, beer, wine], tour the museum and hear our special guest speaker, The Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf, Episcopal Bishop of RI, share thoughts from her experience of living homeless in RI as depicted in her book, “Down and Out in Providence”.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Inc. (MLF) is a national social outreach ministry committed to relieving the struggles homeless individuals face in obtaining their basic needs for food and clothing. The RI Mobile Loaves & Fishes chapter is a thriving ministry with 7 participating churches. Every week, volunteers go out to city streets in the MLF catering truck and serve hot and cold food, and distribute basic clothing and hygiene products to those with the greatest need.
Currently there is a truck on the street every Wednesday, every 3rd Thursday, and every Saturday and Sunday. The truck visits several different sites statewide enabling volunteers to cross community lines easily, serving approximately 1,500 meals per month, with an ultimate goal to be out on the street every night of the week in Rhode Island.
The minimum donation to the event is $30 per person and may be purchased from any of the MLF participating local churches or by contacting Mary Glenn at firstname.lastname@example.org or Liz Crawley at email@example.com. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event.
All proceeds from the event ticket go to support the work of the Mobile Loaves & Fishes-RI. For additional information about this ministry please visit www.mlfnow.org.
