MLF is excited to announce the position of Facilities Manager.

The Facilities Manager that will work closely with several departments to ensure commercial buildings, homes, and their systems, are in excellent working condition. The Facilities Manager will understand the importance of, and be dedicated to, exceptional stewardship of all Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) facilities. The individual who fills this role will be highly motivated with a strong, collaborative working style.

This is a full-time, exempt, position reporting to the Chief Village Officer. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, hours are flexible to fit need, but typically include 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Some nights and weekends may be required. The Facilities Manager will office at Community First! Village located at 9301 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes has embarked on a new and innovative journey to transform how we care for the chronically homeless in our community. We have recently launched and developed Community First! Village, a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. And we are now embarking on a second phase of community expansion, adding more than 300 new neighbors over the next 5 years.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional stewardship and management of all office and support/program spaces, including janitorial and proactive maintenance and repair
  • Coordinate commercial building service requests with the Maintenance Department
  • Work closely with Architecture and Site Development on specifications for new commercial buildings
  • Work closely with Architecture and Site Development and Safety Departments regarding site improvements and maintenance (road striping, hydrant testing, fire lanes, signage, etc.)
  • In collaboration with Architecture and Site Development evaluate the life cycle of commercial facilities and assess for renovation
  • Building commissioning and systems management (thermostats, lighting, etc.)
  • Manage warranty work on all commercial buildings
  • Turn over commercial buildings to the appropriate department
  • Prepare commercial buildings for impending weather changes
  • Inspect all commercial buildings daily
  • Manage access control for commercial spaces
  • Manage master irrigation meters and schedules
  • Manage and maintain exterior site lighting
  • Manage outdoor trash contracts
  • Supervise Janitorial Coordinator and ensure proper janitorial care of buildings
  • In collaboration with Property Management evaluate the life cycle of homes and assess for renovation
  • Work closely with Property Management to help prepare homes for impending weather changes
  • File management of all O&M documents
  • Other Duties & Responsibilities as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF’s vision, mission, core values, and goals
  • 3-5 years of facilities management experience
  • Experience working with large, complex properties preferred
  • General knowledge of building and equipment operation and maintenance
  • Specific knowledge of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience managing building code compliance, including ADA and fire code
  • Exceptional skills in the areas of interpersonal interactions, professional discretion, confidentiality, relationship management, and accountability
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies
  • Ability to resolve problems under pressure and be decisive
  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledgeable and skilled using Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, to reach with hands and arms, and move about the property, including a construction environment
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Exposed to all outside weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts, equipment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, some occasional high noise levels may be expected
