MLF is excited to announce the position of Faith Partnership Steward.

The Faith Partnership Steward is an integral part of the Community Empowerment team, providing leadership and stewardship to connect faith partners throughout the city into the work we are doing at Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Community First! Village. This position will work to deeply understand the needs and areas of engagement of our organization, while also being plugged into the various interests and needs of our faith partners in order to curate a matching of the right opportunities with each partner.

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Community Empowerment. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, hours are flexible to fit the need, but typically include Monday – Friday, 9 – 5, with frequent evening and weekend requirements. The Faith Partnership Steward will office at Community First! Village located at 9301 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes has embarked on a new and innovative journey to transform how we care for the chronically homeless in our community. We have recently launched and developed Community First! Village, a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. And we are now embarking on a second phase of community expansion, adding more than 300 new neighbors over the next 5 years.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan centered around empowering faith communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless at Community First! Village
  • Build relationships with our current faith partners, and continue to steward those relationships into further engagement in and support of MLF
  • Identify and engage potential faith partners from a distance, via phone or video calls or at conferences
  • Connect with leaders of potential faith partner sites to invite to MLF
  • Work closely with the Director of Community Empowerment and Chief Goodness Officer on strategy for developing opportunities for engagement
  • Work closely with the Community Empowerment Team for opportunities to steward these faith community relationships in effective and creative ways
  • Work closely with the Relationships & Giving team to engage these partners with a variety of funding opportunities available at MLF
  • Be an advocate and promoter of MLF throughout the community; this includes speaking engagements, tours, and other opportunities to share the Goodness of MLF
  • Cultivate new relationships with faith partners, connecting them to our mission, vision, values, and goals
  • Create vision and goals for stewarding the on-site space dedicated to engaging faith partners
  • Manage and steward the on-site space dedicated to engaging faith partners through curated retreats and other events or activities at the Village
  • Manage a high volume of emails, phone calls, and off-site visits
  • Collaborate deeply across all MLF teams
  • Develop annual goals for faith-based partnerships, including the tracking and communicating of progress and achievements
  • Attend community events and maintain a strong MLF presence at community events while advocating for the organization
  • Other Duties & Responsibilities as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF’s vision, mission, core values, and goals
  • The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about the nonprofit/social sector and MLF’s vision, mission, core values and goals
  • Strong working knowledge of the faith community landscape in the Austin area
  • 5-7+ years of experience, and a proven track record of building deep and ongoing relationships within their community, particularly in faith-based organizations in the Austin area
  • Experience in public speaking to groups of all sizes as well as strong writing skills
  • Experience in Salesforce and/or other CRM
  • Comfortable working with partners across various religious belief systems
  • Strong relational skills
  • Experience navigating and collaborating across internal and external relationships for an organization
  • Ability to manage and track multiple relationships and associated projects utilizing a formalized system for relationship and data tracking
  • Proven experience and success in project management and strategic planning
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Comfortable with technology, including but not limited to laptop, databases, etc.
