Michael was born in Hutchinson Kansas and found his way to Austin in the 90’s. He has a knack for travel, adventure and the outdoors. Michael found Mobile Loaves & Fishes after a tragic accident in 1998. He was struck by lighting on the patio of his apartment in north Austin which left him in a coma for 7 months. Having no family or strong friendships to support and care for him, his whole life was turned upside down in an instant, losing job,  home, car and business as well as some of his cognitive functioning. With no one to turn to when he was discharged from the hospital his journey of homelessness began. After knocking on church doors, he met a priest name Father Don Sawyer he was gifted with a home in exchange for some work. In October of 2017 he was welcomed to Community First! Village after much anticipation. His Art is often inspired by the beautiful places he has traveled and people he has encountered.
