The Community Art House provides a creative work space for our highly talented friends living in Community First! Village to produce and sell some of the best works of art in Austin.

The Art House program offers a safe and supportive environment that fosters healing and creative expression for our formerly homeless neighbors. Mobile Loaves & Fishes partners with Community First! artists to assist with the promotion and sale of their artwork, supporting their efforts to earn a dignified income through the use of their unique, God-given talents.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of our Community Art House program. With a growing number of neighbors participating in this micro-enterprise program every week, we’re always in need of volunteers to help keep our studio a hospitable and productive workspace. Our primary volunteer role is a Studio Attendant. Because of the highly relational nature of this position, we ask that every volunteer commit to at least one 3.5 hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months. Training is required, and provided by the Art House team.

For more information on available Art House volunteer opportunities, please contact arthouse@mlf.org.

Workshops

We host numerous workshops at the Art House which are open to Community First! Village neighbors and the general public. Workshops vary in subject matter and are taught by gifted artisans from around Central Texas, as well some of our own talented artists who live in the Village. We would be delighted to have you participate and show you around the studio! You can register for upcoming workshops on our events calendar. As a participant, you are doing more than creating art—you are blessing our formerly homeless friends with the gift of community.

Workshops

If you are an artist and are interested in teaching a workshop, please contact arthouse@mlf.org.

Commission Artwork

Each Community Art House artist operates their own micro-business. If you’re interested in commissioning a piece of art by a specific artist or if you are interested in a large quantity of small gifts for your friends and family, please contact the Art House Director at arthouse@mlf.org.
