As a kid growing up in Texas, when I shook our Christmas themed snow globe and watched the glittery snow fall onto the scene inside the glass, I was dreaming of a “White Christmas.” For my neighbors experiencing homelessness, their dream is for a warm, safe and stable home surrounded by people who care for them — on Christmas Day, and every day. They dream of a home not just for the holidays, but a home for good.
Because of you, these dreams are coming true! This year alone, more than 115 formerly homeless neighbors have come home to Community First! Village. By sharing your goodness, these men and women who have spent many years suffering on the streets of Austin will spend this holiday season in their home within a community of belonging.
Your commitment to our most vulnerable neighbors has ensured that although we face a challenging economic recession, the goodness keeps growing! With your support, construction on Phase 2 of the Village continues, with completion scheduled for 2023. We are also in the early stages of development for the expansion of Community First! Village across two new properties that will allow for an additional 1400 homes.
